Punters use a Lucky 15 on four horses or teams they like but are not sure about, because the singles keep a return alive when only one or two win. Many bookmakers add a bonus, such as double odds on a single winner, which this calculator does not include: check your bookmaker’s terms.

How the return is worked out

Each line is settled on its own: the line stake times the decimal odds of every selection in it, multiplied together. A losing selection makes every line it is in return nothing. A void selection counts as odds of 1.0. For each way bets the place part uses place odds: (decimal odds − 1) × place fraction + 1.

line return = stake × odds₁ × odds₂ × … and total return = sum of all line returns

Worked example

£1 a line: A at 2/1 (won), B at 3/1 (won), C at 5/2 (lost), D at 6/4 (won). Total stake £15.00.

Not included: rule 4 deductions, dead heats, each way extra places and bookmaker bonuses (for example double odds on a single winner). Your bookmaker's settlement is final.

Questions

How much does a £1 Lucky 15 cost?

£15 win only, because it is 15 bets. Each way it is £30: every line has a win part and a place part.

What does a Lucky 15 pay if only one selection wins?

Only the single on that selection pays, so the return is the stake times the decimal odds. At 4/1 with £1 a line, one winner returns £5 against a £15 stake.

What happens to a non-runner in a Lucky 15?

The selection is treated as void: its odds count as 1.0 in every double, treble and accumulator it is in, and its single returns the stake.
